About Jim's Carpet & Supplies

Using his more than 18 years of installation experience and knowledge, Jim Oltman opened Jim’s Carpet and Supplies Inc. in 1994. Brandy Scheer, his daughter first joined him as a part time employee in 1995. Brandy, at that time she was attending college at SCC Beatrice Campus. Later she would get her Bachelor’s Degree in, you guessed it, business management from Peru State College. Jim continues to install and do measurements as well as maintain the building, and, from time to time, you may even see him helping customers and making sales. This usually happens when Brandy gets a much deserved vacation day.

Brandy is fond of reminiscing about being a little girl, helping Jim pick up scraps from an installation. One of her favorite memories is helping Jim when he installed carpet at what was then the Chat-n-Nibble ice cream shop. Where Earhart Chiropractic is now. Brandy enjoyed her first waffle cone there. Jim’s memory of the event differs a bit. He recalls the tornado sirens going off while he was installing. Brandy must have been too intent on her ice cream to notice.

Brandy is now part owner and full time everything else. With Jim busy installing, she relies on Lindsay Matthews to keep the store running smoothly with her sales skills as well as bookkeeping. Ron Scheer, Brandy’s husband, is the warehouse manager, carpet installer, and author. You may also see Dixie Johnson, Brandy’s mom, helping out where needed.
