This basic question is asked by many of our customers. The answer often surprises people, because it’s way more frequent than many people realize. According to the Carpet and Rug Institute, every carpet should be vacuumed at a minimum of once a week. They recommend, however, that high traffic areas be vacuumed daily, medium-traffic areas twice weekly and only lightly trafficked areas to be cleaned weekly.
Why is it important to vacuum this often? The small particles of dust and dirt that are tracked into your home get pushed down deeper into the fibers of the carpet with each step. Regular vacuuming collects these particles before they become embedded in the carpet backing, or worse, into the carpet cushion where they are much more difficult to remove. As a plus, a regular vacuuming regime will also improve the air quality in your home.
